I have a Giga-Byte GA-8I915MD-GV motherboard. I put in a 2GB JETRAM DDR2 800 memory module, but the system does not pick it up...will a bios update work(where to find) or is it just not compatible?

This mobo is limited to 2GB. Two slots are provided for RAM (type DDR2)

This is the mobo info - ProductName=GA-8I915MD-GV

If no memory is detect, the bios should beep at you.
Try the other slot. Ensure it is fully seated.

The mobo auto-detects RAM size changes.

If its limited to 2GB max and there is 2 slots for memory add-on's, most likely each slot can only hold 1GB.

    Theres your problem, DDR2-800 Ram.

    Your motherboard doesn't support DDR2-800...

    It only supports DDR2-400/533

And that is why your Ram isn't picked up...
