System File Checker no longer works.

  1. I recently had some crashing problems with explorer.exe (which I'm hoping an update has fixed.. Looks good so far).

However, I tried to use System File Checker (Start / Run/ SFC /scannow) and it started.. But that was about it. It said to insert my Windows CD (and I did just that), but it said that I had the wrong version (It has worked before this though).

Do you think that my recent trip to WindowsUpdate has made SFC impossible to use now? What should I do if I ever need to use SFC again?

And yes, it is the correct CD used during the original installation.

If you have installed Service Pack 1, it might ask for those files.
