System Idle Process using 95+ CPU?

  1. I've just noticed that my 'System Idle Process' is using up 95+ of my CPU is this normal? I just finished an anti-virus scan and it came up clean... could anyone help me out?

    The idle process is a placeholder process that shuts down the CPU when it has nothing to do and shows you the amount of time the processor is idle.

    It's pretty normal for a computer to spend 95% of the time idle.
