System shows only j while booting

Hi All,
My system shows only j while booting. I do not knows what the reason. I got frustrated. I tried to do change boot priority through bios. However, bios does not detect hard disk and CD. Please let know the solution or other alternate way to install windows XP.

Without the proper spec's to your computer, say brand name, model number, BIOS version ect. ect. ect., makes it kind of hard to give advice on how best to go about remedying your problem.

But I would have to say, even with this limited amount of information here, I would try to go for a BIOS reset. Normally on most computers, there will be a special little "jumper" on the motherboard. This jumper, if positioned right, will send a signal to the BIOS to have it reset itself. After a BIOS reset and or clear, the system will once again see all the devices, that at this point it thinks are missing.

Good luck......
