Taking apart my 200GB External...

  1. I want to take apart my "Maxtor Personal Storage 3200" external USB hard drive, and how would i do this? And would there be a normal hard drive inside that i could stick in my computer? Thanks fro the help :)

    um.. look for screws?

    It should be just a normal 3.5" hdd inside it, just that if you open it up it could viod your warranty with it (you need to check).

    Seriously, just look for the screws (i doubt its one of those regular philips (+) or flats (-)) and do it slowly and carefully. Do remember to write down or remember where everything goes if afterwards you need that working again :D

    if newer may be sata more'n likely a ide
    after install as reg dirve
    on boot when loading may be set as dynamic data not basic do not let chkdsk run!!!
