Temperature conundrum

Hi, I used to run an Athlon X2 240 (!) with the stock cooler, it ran at idle around 35C.

I recently upgraded to a Phenom X4 965 with the Arctic Freezer Rev 2. My temps are still 35C at idle.

Is that normal?

Thanks

Sounds normal to me. Aftermarkets coolers are far better than stock coolers which are designed to fit into low profile cases.

I take it the Phenoms are supposed to run hotter then the Athlon X2's?

Could you (or anyone) recommend the maximum temp that a Phenom 965 should reach (when overclocked) under maximum load?

Thanks

Yeah but you're running it with a better cooler.

Generally CPUs are designed to run pretty hot, you'll be fine as long as you're not going above 70-80C for extended periods of time.

35 idle is fine. As above, once you get over 75W under load, you gotta start looking at solutions.
