I need a test plan for Mac OS X Server, since i want to build my own server.. anyway I need 3 that that consist of 'backing up data' 'doing recovery', creating recovery image for the server, installing software security for the mac os x server.

Any help? thank you

First, CUDOS for planning :)

Second; segregate your concepts for USER(s) vs System B/R.

a1) backups most frequently get used to recover from 'fast finger errors', eg oops, I deleted the wrong file or I need last weeks version of file xxx.
These backups need to be frequent and thus will consume large amounts of media and
if they were to include the system itself, you waste time and media with redundant data.

b1) system level backups are a real pain; First try do discover 'how do I restore a system that will not boot'? -- this will give you great insight to the problem.

I need 3 that that consist of :
  1. 'backing up data' 'doing recovery', per (a1) above
  2. creating recovery image for the server, per (b1) above
  3. installing software security for the mac os x server.

You will quickly discover that the short path to recovery is
  • replace the failed hardware, eg the HD
  • reinstall the OS from original media
  • reinstall your 3rd party applications from original media
  • recover the user data from (a1)
  • now recover your system settings from (b1)
