    I think they are doing this, because they know they will just pirate the software anyway, and why not get a 'little' money out of them...

    I think the more important reason is to keep the customers in Windows instead of letting them buy cheap Linux machines.

    Like a number of African nations who's typical yearly income is less than the cost of Windows XP Home Edition. :(
