The dreaded blue screen

  1. my brother in law gave me this computer and after downloading a program called alcohol 120% my computer is screwed up..When i turn it on it boots up until you can see the XP screen in the background and then goes to the blue screen saying windows has shut down to prevent damage to my pc.Check hard drive for errors.And now I have reinstalled xp on a different drive.And it works fine.But i have important programs and drivers that I cannot access.Can someone please!!!!!! help

    Download a Knoppix cd or an Ultimate Boot Cd and use the tools on the cd to access the drive and remove your files. Can you access the drive at all through explorer or Computer Management? Once you get the files off of it just reformat and install Windows again.
