The icons on my desktop keep freezing

    After having my computer on for a short time the icons on my desktop freeze and I can't click on them but I can still click on the start menu and click on the same programs that are on my desktop this way. Please help, I am not very clued up about computers and this is starting to bother me. I have windows vista. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
