The Sims 2 DirectX 9 error

    I recently bought a brand-new computer, and played the Sims 2 on it yesterday.
    Then today, when I tried to run, I got the typical directx9 error. Please help, I'm running an ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics card, and four AMD Athlon(tm) IIx4 640 processors.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1 Build 7600)
    AMD Athlon(tm) IIx4 640 processors (4 CPUS) ~ 3.0 GHz
    6144MB RAM
    Direct X 11

    Is Directx 11 incompatible, and if so, how would I change it?
