Thermal paste

    Hey,

I just bought an Intel Celeron D. It came with those big metal things and a fan. But I'm not sure if there is any thermal paste - There is this grey-ish solid smeared over the bottom of the heatsink thing, is that the thermal paste? I thought it would be a paste, not a solid!

Also, is this particular processor supposed to come with any documentation? In my box I got the Processor chip and the fan+heatsink thing. Something sounds fishy hey.

    Any ideas?

What you`ve got there is a thermal pad. Removing it may void the warranty.

Just insert the cpu into it`s socket on the mobo, and attatch the heatsink and fan.

As to your other question regarding documentation, I`m afraid I don`t really know.
