Just wondering what your thoughts are on using Avast as a good alternative to the more well known programs like Norton AV or Mcafee? I recently switched from Norton 2003 (fully updated) to Avast 4.6 Home (free) and it picked up a trojan that norton missed. Avast seems to be as good as the others... plus, it is free... which, fits my budget nicely :grinthumb Your thoughts? What other AV software do you prefer?

Avast is up there with the free AVG version from www.grisoft.com
Very little difference between them, if any.

I have used both AVG and Avast. I IMHO Avast is the better product.

Avast is pretty good easy to use and one of the top Free ones out there espically with the new patch ..Reason for the patch is they did not do such a great job in the VB test in June 2004 on Xp Professional as you can see here.http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?table
