Thunderbird startiing in "offline mode"..

I am using Thunderbird 3.0.6 and enjoy it allot. The BIG problem is that it ALWAYS starts in Offline mode, even when connected to the internet. I have the settings set to Online mode at start up, but it does not work.

Is there anyway I can get Thunderbird 3.0.6 to start in online mode when online?

This problem is starting to bug me...

1) get an Internet Connection
2) start TB
3) read one msg
4) ask for Get New Messages
5) NOW immediately, QUIT TB

Then try restarting TB and look for the ONLINE Icon
