Toshiba laptop boot freezing

    A couple of months ago my laptop kept overheating loads so i took it apart to clean the lint out of the fan bit, great success, it then ran cooler, soon after this my laptop started to fail to boot past the bios and froze on the fujitsu splash screen with about 80% of the progress bar full, also the display does not show up on my laptop the previous information was gained via an external screen. also the power button flashes whenever it is plugged into AC but it will not start from a battery

    Specs:
    Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pa3553
    2GB DDR2 RAM

    I have performed a clean wipe of my hard drive and tried the holding the power button thing neither had any effect,

    How old is your system? Does it power up with AC but with battery removed?

    2 Years but it was bought refurbished, so really i dont know, and yeah it powers up without the battery on AC.
