Toshiba Satellite A665 laptop won't boot

    Laptop won't boot. Put in installation disc in CD drive. System won't boot to CD rom. I removed the HDD, put CD in drive, it boots to CD ROM. Reinsert HDD, plug in power, no boot to splash screen or allowing access to bios. Remove HDD, boots to CD ROM...
    Thoughts?

    I don't understand why it won't boot to CD with disc inserted. It should boot up to CD regardless since it is first in boot order.

    Disregard specs below. It's Toshiba Satellite A665 Laptop.

    Update: I had suspected the HDD was bad. The OS did finally boot. It cannot find a HDD. Can you say Newegg?

    First and last Toshiba for me.
