Trap error when booting up on Windows XP

I have an Athlon 2400+ based computer runnng Windows XP
(Home Edition). Upon turning on the computer, it goes thru
the memeory check, recognizing the drives, mapping IRQ's
etc., but then I end up with a white screen with black
letter that looks like:

Computer specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
ECS K7S5A Pro motherboard
2 x 256MB Kingston DDR PC2100
nVidia 5200FX 128 MB DDR AGP
Western Digital IEEE1394 (PCI)
2 ata hard drives (40 and 80GB)

Any suggestions to troubleshoot this would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

If this computer is still under warranty, then return it after having made copies of any personal files.

If you built it yourself, then you have a problem. I am afraid that only the processor understands the error message you have posted, and it tells us little other than that you have a very serious problem indeed.

Possible problems
----------------------

Corrupt Windows installation - Can you reinstall the OS?

Corrupt RAM - if you have more than one DIMM, try removing one, does it work now? If not, what if you try the other one?

Corrupted hard disk - is your hard drive making any horrible noises all of a sudden since this problem started?

These above problems are correctable if you can live with the possbility of data loss.

However, you may have a more serious problem, including:

-Fried CPU
-Fried capacitor on motherboard
-Loads of other nasty things.

Basically, to sum up, what I am saying is that you have a BAD PROBLEM, but what it is, and HOW BAD it is, will take some more investigation on your part.

...Or, if its under warranty, take it back.

Hello to all, the reason for which I decided to write on this subject , is because I understand the headache that a Pc can give us. when we are doing it. I looked intensely on Internet to this famous error, that some systems give us at the time of trying to inststall Windows xp:

usually this error, appear when we are trying to install Windows, and many people think that perhaps to be a problem with ram memory or the video card or corrupt hard Disc. I personally spend several nights treating to reinstall Windows xp in a PC, that I arm, with new Parts, so imagine the frustrated I was.

Well summarizing a little, I tested part by part my new PC, Taken Out and Testing components and Change it all cables. I also Make a Low format to my Hard Disk and pumm! the same error was back, then I remembered. I Had another Athlon xp 2200+ processor in a good condition on another Machine and I then Discover The Guilty Component , was the AThlon xp Processor . and I couldn't believe it Because my cpu looks in perfect conditions. without Black Spots that gave to me indications that it was burned, eaven had any bent pin. .

Conclusion: If you tryed everything and and still appear the same error , I suggest to try another processor, maybe yours is bad, no matter is look like new .
