Trouble Recognizing Headphones

I've had my headphones for some time now and untill recently they were working just fine. I can't remember the actual product name of the headphones but can tell you they are made by logitech and have a usb plug in. The problem is that my computer doesnt seem to fully recognize the headphones anymore. When i open a program to use the headphones with or try to make a call to another computer, my computer makes the designated beeping noise for when you connect/unconnect a usb device and then the headphones stop working. Sometimes the beep will happen twice in a row as if my headphones were unconnected and then reconnected again. I've tried looking at other forums around the internet but no one seems to have had this problem before. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

There may be a broken wire inside the cable that goes to the computer. Can you try another set of USB headphones?
