I have checked the system volume, updated drivers, checked the BIOS, even went as far as checking to see if the windows audio service was started. Still, i get no sound out of my speakers. When i turn Mic Boost on in volume controls, i hear a loud fuzzy sound, that is how i know it isn't a hardware issue.

My system Specs are:

Problems & Suggestions
Problem Disk free space is only 10% on drive D:.

Thanks in advance!

That noise is often a sign that the speakers or the sound card has been over-driven and burned out.
Have you tried testing with a different set of speakers? A different sound card? Do you have any red or yellow flags in your device manager?

I have just re downloaded the realtek AC97 4.06 sound driver on my gateway GT 5034 machine.

For the second time I get an error message that tells me "bad direct sound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configeration.

What is going on?

You can get a "bad driver" error message if the sound card is bad, resulting in the inability for the driver to install... What does your device manager report? Any devices flagged?
This failure can occur simply from running your sound volume at high levels for as low as 10 or 20 minutes.

I do not see any red flags on the computer.

When you say device manager are you talking about the audio device in the control panel?

If it is a sound card is my sound card part of the mother board in this machine gateway gt 5034?

If so can we by pass the mother board with a different sound card?

yes, i have tried different speakers, they also did not work. There is nothing in the device manager that would indicate that there is anything wrong with it, actually when i go to the properties page it says that the device is working properly. I have yet to try different sound card, but im guessing that it would be my only solution since i have tried every software solution out there.
