Troubleshooting flow chart

Ok, so I got an emachine, don't judge, it just started to "act up". It intermittently will not turn on. My bandaide solution as been to keep it in Standby mode. This only works of course if the electricity does not got out. Where should I first start to troubleshoot the problem. The power switch itself then where..???

Emachine!!! You have my sympathy!!!

It's most likely to be a failing psu, I'm sure i don't need to tell you that emachines are made with extremely cheap components and as a result are only a tiny bit better than sony vaio's!!!

You can test the psu independently of the mobo by shorting the green wire to any black, but i suspect this won't achieve much as i think your psu may be giving up under load!!! You would be best trying a different psu, they aren't all that expensive so it may be worth getting a new on of 350watts or more!!!!

First solution. DESTROY THE EMACHINE.

If its under warranty, return it for repairs.

Seeing as your pc is now powering up, is it stable?? Does it power first time every time???
