  1. I downloaded HJT but when I try to run, I get an "unexpected error". Is there a file or something that I don't have installed on my computer?

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

As Kevin16 said you may just need to download it again.

The fact that you are trying to run Hijackthis makes me think that you suspect that your computer is infected with spyware etc.

Go HERE and follow the instructions very carefully.

Once you have done that then go HERE and follow the instructions on how to post your HJT log.
