I have a WD WD740ADFD Raptor Hard Drive is a ATA drive and about 5 weeks ago while i was playing World of Warcraft the computer screen froze and i had to restart the computer but the bios would not see the HD when computer start up.

So they send me a new one. After 2 weeks of been install it happen again. I made sure it was only the game on that computer. This last time the Hard Drive made a Screeshing noise before it die.

They sending me a new HD but i am afraid to install it before i see whats causing the trouble.

It is possible to have a faulty IDE Cable
Did you also get a new IDE Cable with either of the new Harddrives?
If not, it may be best to purchase one

Another point of interest is the amount of Ram presently in your computer
If there is not enough Ram (I recommend 1Gig min on Xp; 2Gig Min on Vista) it is possible your Harddrive space is being used as the Random Access Memory

Sorry not sure what you are saying
But I'd suggest to replace the IDE Cable yes. On your ATA Harddrive

    I hope not too

    But it's unlikely anyway

Sounds to me like your power supply may be the cause of the issues. What make and manufacturer is it?
