Two routers...?

Okay guys, I have a router that runs to my xbox through a wired connection. Im getting a new pc and need another connection running to it. The only problem is the ethernet cable would have to be around 40 feet long to reach to where my new pc is going. I am also moving my xbox to the same spot as the pc so i would need 2 40 foot long ethernet cables..should i get the 2 cables or can i set up a new router right beside where the pc and xbox will be if so how would i go about doing this.

easy. If you have an extra router already, use it. Otherwise, by a switch.

The wiring is
router#1 (lan) -----------(lan) new box (lan) --- xbox + new pc

The swich makes this a plug-n-play install (ie nothing to do).

If the new box is a router, then
  1. first disable the DHCP service in it
  2. then leave the WAN slot empty when making the connections
