Ubuntu 11.10 graphics issue

Hi! This is my first time posting here but I have been using TechSpot for years for updates and news stuff. Anyways, I have an ongoing issue with my newly installed Ubuntu 11.10 (triple boot with Windows 7 and XP SP3).

Onboard graphics is geforce6100pm-m2. The boot screen is flickering really bad and I can't see the boot options. What I know is that Ubuntu is first on the list and Windows 7 is the last, so everytime I turn on the desktop I have to look real close at the monitor and just look at the highlighted entries.

The desktop also flickers, but not as bad as the boot screen.

Windows 7 and XP boot just fine.

Any fix for this yet?

Thanks!

Is this an AMD based system or intel? I would suggest going into the BIOS and having a look at the VGA shared memory settings. Try increasing it and see if that helps. Also if you have an AMD CPU, disable "cool and quiet" in the BIOS and try that as well.

I have an AMD Athlon X2 processor. Onboard graphics is geforce6100pm-m2. I tried increasing the shared memory but the problem persists. I'll try the cool and quiet settings.

Thanks!
