Ok after advanced scan choose the correct partition that you have lost. An if i remember correctly on the left side you should have apply. Which would start the recovery process.

at the final screen of the scan it tells me to choose the searched deleted/lost partitions.
so i selected the one i searched and clicked finish, but it tells me that at least one of the existing partitions will be deleted.
i thought i didn't want that, selected both and clicked finish.(nothing happened)
however, when i do that, i am not able to click apply(it's greyed out)
now i don't really understand what to do here.
which partition do i have to select? will the one i select be deleted or will the other one be deleted?
i mean can you try and explain exactly what to do here, because i don't want to do anything wrong

Here is whats happening picture this:

1 pizza of 6 slices. The pizza itself is the hardrive the combinations of slices are the partition(s).

For example if you choose to eat slices 1 to 3 1/2. That would be one partion. But assume your friend wants to eat slice 3 to 6. Now we have a conflict as 1/2 of slice 3 is allocated to you.

That is why partition wizard cannot recover both partitions. because both partitions are partially using a portion of the same drive in the same area.

Usually the lost deleted partition is the correct partition to choose. But I cannot make that decision for you as I do not want to be liable of your data. The correct logic to this is the following:

Try to remember the size of the drive in My Computer and match the size of the drive to the correct partition.

I beleive you should select the lost/deleted partition and let partition wizard follow through. But again my opinion. Keep in mind that you can lose your data.

seems i have some sort of problem with the partition wizard.
after running either scan (quick or advanced) i click finish on the last screen.
by watching some videos on the site of partition wizard i figured out that after you click that finish button, when you go back to the original screen, it should have 1 pending operation (or something) on the bottom left of the screen.
however, with me, that's not the case.
somehow i do not get any pending operations
any idea what this could be?

Did you select the lost/deleted partition prior to clicking finish?
  6. petersluuk Newcomer, in training Posts: 40

both my partitions(the healthy one and the lost/deleted one), as it said so in the help thingy the wizard has, but it does the same when i only select one

You need to choose one (lost/deleted) then hit finish. It should generate the task after in the left side. Hit Apply.

    see that's just my problem
whether i choose one, the other or both, it just doesn't generate that task somehow
any idea how that would be possible?

I just tried it again (exactly as in the video) and i can assure you that when i hit that finish button(after the scan has completed), there are no pending operations.
The apply button is greyed out for some reason..
    I really dont get it
EDIT: I tried to do something else just to see how the wizard would respond.
So I tried to resize a partition, and after I did this there was indeed a pending operation, so I guess it has nothing to do with the wizard.
I just don't understand why I'm unable to do this while it should actually be simple.

Alright so I tried a few things and I believe I may have fixed it.
I resized the partition that was still working, that gave me a pending operation as I said in the previous post.
So before clicking apply to confirm that I thought I'd try another scan to see what it would do.
After the scan it showed me the partitions, and unlike before, now both partitions were lost/deleted.
So I selected them both, clicked finish and now I did get a pending operation(on top of the resize operation which I selected before)
So I clicked apply and it seems like it worked.
EDIT: Seems like it didn't fix it, it only fixed the other partition, the one with the original problem is sill lost/deleted while the other one is now existing again after all that.
Does this make any sense to you at all?

I'm going to try some other stuff to see what it will do.
  13. Kevork Newcomer, in training Posts: 92

Unfortunatly I have never seen this problem with partition wizard. Normally it has worked for 99% of the time.

In all reality we do not care about the first partition we need the wiizard to recover the lost/deleted partition.

I wounder if they have support? Might be a good idea to send them an email.
  14. petersluuk Newcomer, in training Posts: 40

Yeah they have support i saw it somewhere yesterday while browsing their site.
I'm trying some things out as we speak.
Will get back to you asap.
    This is getting awkward though..
  15. petersluuk Newcomer, in training Posts: 40

Alright nothing seems to be working.
I'll send an email to support later tonight.
I'll let you know as soon as I hear from them.

  18. petersluuk Newcomer, in training Posts: 40

Yeah I was thinking about that earlier today, will try that in a bit.
