  1. I am trying to format one of my hard drives. When I try to I get an error that says " windows was unable to complete the format."

The hard drive I am trying to format once had windows vista on it and windows.old is still there, and when I try to delete that it says I need permission to do so ( even though I am administrator.

    Any suggestions would help.

    Thank you.

remove any other drives in the pc, boot off a windows disc and format the drive that way

took a while to complete but it did the job

    thanks.
