Unable to Install MDAC 2.8 on XP pro

I Installed an application called felxterm on my XP pro and to support the application i have to install the MDAC 2.8 (Microsoft Data Access Components ) and when i tries to install the same it is giving me this Error
" MDAC 2.8 RTM is incompatible with this version of Windows" i've checked with both sp2 and sp3 it isnt helping,
is there any possible solution which i can do ?
any any help would be highly appreciated.
