I have a friends asus netbook Eee PC1005HAB and the hdd crashed so I put a new one in it. But when I try to install the os from the recovery disk it always returns an error message that says "press and key to boot from cd of dvd.....missing operating system". Can any one help?

More or less due to its a retail. Most retail laptops and computers recovery cd do not after. A hardrive is replaced. You can check with The computers support site and see if their is a work around. Also check and see if you have cd/dvd setup as first boot in the bios.

I solved the problem by running killdisk and wiping the hdd clean. Then It worked.
