Unable to start-up/Series of beeps?

  1. Until today my computer has run perfectly. Then I took my harddrive out to tale a look at it. When I put it back in, and re-started I got a series of beeps and it wouldnt boot-up.
The computer has NEVER been on-line. It seems like I hooked something up backwards or something. Not sure?? Any help would be appreciated.

BIOS beeps are indicative of hardware failure. Read your mobo book to find out what they mean.

Check for anything near the hard drive to see if you could have knocked it, e.g. RAM may have come out of its slot etc, so try reseating it.

If it still won't boot, do as Tedster says and look up the beep codes in your motherboard manual, but if it doesn't have them then google for "*your BIOS type* beep codes".

Your BIOS should be AMI, Award or IBM.
