Solved Unable to uploading anything... virus? malware?

Alright~ tried restore point, and no luck.

I also went to look at windows updates, and just to see if it would, I clicked "check for updates" and it gives me an error code
"WindowsUpdate_80072EE2" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

I looked around online for "can't upload anything" and some say firewall is the culprit, others IP blockers. I'm out of my league here. Sorry for all the trouble... I almost wish this had been malware!!!

This is really strange.
You say that you have no problem uploading in Safe Mode with Networking correct?
If so then we tried Safe Boot, which is like safe mode settings in normal mode and it didn't work.

Download Windows Repair (All in One) from this site

Install the program then run it.

NOTE 1. In Windows Vista, 7 and 8 right click on the program, click "Run As Administrator".
NOTE 2. Disable your antivirus program before running Windows Repair.

Go to Step 2 and allow it to run CheckDisk by clicking on Do It button:

p22002979.gif

Once that is done then go to Step 3 and allow it to run System File Check by clicking on Do It button:

p22002980.gif

Go to Step 4 and under "System Restore" click on Create button:

p22002982.gif

Go to Start Repairs tab and click Start button.

Leave all checkmarks as they're.
NOTE for Windows 8 users. Reset Registry Permissions is NOT checked by design.

Click on Start button.

Avira didn't seem to be "disabling" so instead of fiddling with it, I uninstalled it temporarily so it wouldn't screw things up. Just to see, I tried uploading a document via gmail (from both IE and FF) and the 11kb notepad document uploaded, but an attempt 4 MB word doc hung up.

<edit: had to post this from a laptop again... I wasn't able to do a large post from the desktop again>

Here's the log:

...YOU MUST RESTART YOUR SYSTEM...
Running Repair Under System Account

Let's try to reset your router...

Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (Vista and Windows 7 users: while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
net stop "dns client"
net start "dns client"

Turn the computer off.

On your router, you'll find a pinhole marked "Reset".
Keep pushing the hole, using a pencil, or a paperclip until all lights briefly come off and on.
NOTE. Simple router disconnecting from a power source will NOT do.
Restart computer and check for redirections.

NOTE. You may need to re-check your router security settings, as described HERE[/url

Well~ I just did the above. I can upload! albeit very slowly (a 4 mb file attachment took about 5 minutes).
<edit> the brighthouse speed test resulted in 9.55 mbps download and 0.58 upload.

I'm not certain I "reset" the right box. I just realized that I have two boxes... they are both connected to a cable (internet coax cable I think it is) which ends at a splitter. The splitter then goes into the wall. Possibly ones a modem and the other a WiFi AP. I'm really bad with hardware.

That has to be it. Thank you again for all your time and patience. If nothing else, I gave my desktop a helluva clean up and tune up. I think we can close this thread... I'll pursue with Brighthouse

Thanks again,
M
