Akki ‘Akatsuki’ from New Zealand get's my vote!!
Well where do I start.
I'm a 63 year old Grandfather who has been a computer geek since stone tablets were replaced by the IBM PC way back in yonder times.
I'm an avid BOINCer (The Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC, pronounced /bɔɪŋk/ – rhymes with "oink"[2]), an open-source middleware system, supports volunteer and grid computing.[3] Originally developed to support the SETI@home project, it became generalized as a platform for other distributed applications in areas as diverse as mathematics, linguistics, medicine, molecular biology, climatology, environmental science, and astrophysics, among others.[4] BOINC aims to enable researchers to tap into the enormous processing resources of multiple personal computers around the world.) and 'crunch' projects such as Skynet Pogs, Milkyway, Moo! Wrapper, Rosetta and SETI.
I use re-purposed 1 x HP ML 370 G3 and 1 x ML370 G5 severs for BOINC projects as a member of the Gridcoin Team. With these projects I donate my computations to the scientific community to help humanity.
I'm also an avid gamer and love my old games which I play on an old Compaq Deskpro running Windows 98 and of course DOS.
My all time favorite game is Star Elite and this is the reason for replying to this topic. At present for some modern day games, I use an old Dell Optiplex 520X with an HD 7950 GPU attached using an extender as it will not fit into the Dell case.
I'm really looking to play Elite: Dangerous but as you can imagine with my present setup it's impossible.
My youngest son is also an avid gamer although he uses an XBox One and I never get a look in even though I have always preferred PC gaming to the normal 'games systems'.
I honestly don't know whether I would qualify for this competition at all considering my setup, age etc.
However I thought I'd give it a try as nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Many thanks for all your interesting articles and videos.

Yeah, those were my thoughts as well. I entered my trusty old PC even though this may be the case.I also feel bad for Akki and would have voted for the Akki. However being pragmatic and realistic here, his PC is simply so old and behind now that $500 isn't going to be enough to fix it properly.
yes I'm a fan of itachi yuhoooHonestly, I was thinking about voting for Akatsuki even before watching the video based on the name alone. But, after having seen the video, I definitely voted for Akatsuki.
Side question: who are people's favorite members of Akatsuki? Itachi fan here.
I really appreciate your feedback but you have to take other factors into consideration which I think that might be the case why he choose these components. its not like he choose the worst parts the thing is he have to buy all the things from local retail shop in New Zealand so 500USD to NZD would be 680 something and prices here differ from as you can see on amazon. So quite unfortunate amazon is not well established for New Zealand at the moment. But what he choose would not be the best but considering what else he need to take into account when he choose those components. We have to appreciate what he choose for us. I would be really happy if I'll win because of you guys you supported me a lot and thanks to Steve as well for making me part of this show.I'm not entirely familiar with part purchasing methods, but this is what you can buy with 500 USD currently on amazon (in picture).
All parts are better then Steve suggested, except case... but on the other hand, you get an SSD. Still, if you want a better case, you can drop the SSD, and, for 120+ USD get almost any case you like.
I'm talking (ofc) about Akki's pc.
