Upgrading my current processor

Hello i am currently seeking to upgrade my processor as the title says,

1.80 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Not hyper-threaded

i have 3 gig of DDR 1 RAM

My Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS

main curcuit board
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. A8N-E 2.XX
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD ASUS A8N-E ACPI BIOS Revision 1013 04/07/2006

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build 2600)

was unable to find the model of my motherboard but hopefully thats enough i plan to upgrade to

AMD Athlon II X4 630 Socket AM3 2.8GHz 2MB L2 Cache

please let me know if i can

i dont think that cpu will work in your old system you would have to buy a new motherboard and ram as i think that you have a soket 939 board if it is just a plain old 1.86Ghz athlon cpu.

The mobo you have is 3 older than the new cpu you chose. So yeah what klepto said. You could choose a new mobo/ram etc, but you'd probably needs a new psu as well.

So eitherway im spending money i dont have..., was hoping to just ugrade the processor but it looks like ill have to wait till i find a job and get off job seekers
