"Although Linux has become the second largest OS in the global server market, penetration rates in the client PC market remain low."

You'd be forced to agree. Although I truly love Linux, one has to admit that its only recently got easy to install, only recently managed to detect all your hardware properly, and only recently managed to have the kind of eye candy that Windows has.

Still, these things bode well for the future, I guess, that the platform is getting better. As I heard written somewhere recently, no one said Linux was finished. Its far from it and has much work to do. But its getting there.

Question is, will it get there before Longhorn comes along and blows it away as a client OS?

The reason why Windows got so widespread is because of OEM bundles. Now thanks to that it's a catch-22 situation for other OSes. Not enough users because of not enough foothold and vice versa.

I lost hope years ago.
