USB flash drive not found

  1. Good day, I saw there was some discussions regarding this topic but I still can't find a solution to my problem.

    I'm using Windows XP professional 2003. I was working on MS Word and saving to my usb drive. When I tried to save to it again the drive just disappeared from My Computer. From there on no computer can read it. When you plug it in it just does not show. The information stored on the drive is very very important and I need to retrieve it urgently.
    I think it must be the driver, but the drive is so old I can't see what make it is. Looks like Gaigin or something gin.

    If the drive (USB Drive) is old then there's a good chance it might have just failed. :( The fact that you are unable to get the drive to work on another machine backs that up as well.

    I'd take it to a local PC shop, I know we use things like Active@ file recovery at work which is paid software to recover corrupt data, but if the drive doesn't power, it might be a job for a Data Recovery Specialist.
