Sorry, but no. You can sometimes find that one USB port will be significantly faster than others. Do not connect other USB devices when you are scrambling for extra speed.

There is not way to speed up older technology, but the new ones are very speedy if you shop carefully.
The best ones have a five year waranty, and list speeds of 100X to 200X. These numbers translate to Read 6 GB/Sec, Write 3 GB/Sec on up to read 30 GB/Sec, and write 30 GB/Sec
When SPECS do not post speeds, warranty, etc., they are likely NOT fast.
The top ones will likely say VISTA ready, and have a five year warranty as well.
One good model is IronKey, others are OCZ, Corsair, and so on. There will be more postings soon as they are waiting until after graduation as they try to rid their excess stock of the unreliable and slow USB drives..
