OK, I have a 100 GB IDE hard drive that I am going to replace with a 250 GB SATA drive. I have an external hard drive to which I have saved an image of the IDE drive. When I put the new SATA drive in, I want to restore that image to it.

The question I have is.....if Acronis True Image is installed on my original 100 GB drive, how exactly do I 'restore' the image to the new drive? I've read the instructions and am just not getting it. Which pi**es me off because I'm a fairly smart person. Is there an Acronis for *****s book out there?

It has been a while since I have done one, but I don't think you want the Acronis installed on the old drive. You want it on the computer of the new drive.

1) Do you have your Acronis CD? If not, run Acronis and build a Rescue CD.
2) Install new HD and boot from the Acronis CD
3) It'll step you through the recovery from backup to new HD
