Using CD enclosure (Firewire400) for harddrive - Computer doesn't see the drive

My wife's Chicklet (iBook) directory got corrupted and I saved the drive with Drive Rescue - Needed Firewire HD to complete the backup - SO - I took out the CD burner out of the Que case and tried 3 different good drives and could not get any of them to show up on the the iBook OR my Pismo
It's - Firewire to ATA right?? The Que burner is a LiteOn - Anybody know somthing about this???
