olefarte, If you try Mozilla make sure you try the Firebird version. Version .6 is OK but the later nightly build fixes some of the problems I've noticed in the released version.

Tarkus, I've got Firebird .6 installed and giving it a try, but so far, I think I like Opera better, if for nothing else than the mouse gestures. They are great and hard not to have when using another browser.

Mozilla (firebird version) is simple, actually quite too simple. Err I'd have to pick Opera over Mozilla, but I pick IE over Opera still.

You need to explore Opera's features a little more. There are a ton of very good, unique features that make browsing much more fun.

Click on the hotlist icon and take a look at what's available. You can create secure notes for your credit cards (handy for online purchases), you can list all the links on any page (handy when downloading multiple files from a page), the history tab has a search function that interactively lists any visited pages matching your search text, there is an email/contacts tab, and opera can pause and resume downloads (no need for a download manager).

You can add buttons to the personal bar for your favourite websites (e.g. techspot) so that all your regular websites are never more than a click away.

There is also a handy magic wand password manager to store your website login details. You can selectively block pop-ups, and use any of Opera's search engines to find info.

Really, I can't imagine ever wanting to switch back to Internet Explorer after becoming used to all of Opera's features.

i downloaded opera 7 when it was announced on the site. the paste ang o option is just one of the features i liked, as well as being able to close multiple windows at once and placing favorites on the title bar.

however, it crashed all the time and got worse the longer i used it, after reinstalls too. shame, but im now im back on ie6.

yukka, I presume you've read this entire thread. I had the same problem, maybe not the same reason though. If you had version 7, there have been two updates since and a beta version 7.2 out now, that's what I'm useing now and it works fine. Maybe if you give it another try.

i have been using opera for a while. it impressed me a lot with its features. mozilla firebird is pretty good despite how it is sort of skeletal. however, i still have to use ie6 to use windowsupdate.

If you feel that IE is just too awful, use some IE frontend like the MyIE already advertised on this site or Avant.. They come with nifty features and are just as compatible as IE.

BTW, Avant advertises itself as the "Fastest web browser on earth" and from my experience that claim is well based.

im using opera for most. extremely seldom crashes and if it does just fire it up and continue where you left off on all the pages. And the most annoying thing about IE must be that when opening a new window its not the adressfield thats marked as default.

Also tried Firebird, its a browser with good potential. And also has a mouse gesture plugin. The compatibility is slightly better then opera.

People who think that firebird is lacking in features obviously havent checked out all the add ons for it. they are called "extensions" and there is an extensive list of them available.

whoops i totally installed myie2 instead of opera, and tbh its really good.

dont know if any browsers have this, but it has "groups" as well as favorites.

now i just go into groups and hit sport, and all my sport pages open. or comics, and all my web comics open, or news, i think you get the idea.

i kinda feel bad for not installing opera again, but im using Amd and Ati, so im not all that bad eh? :p

Argherrr..... why bother? I don't know about most of you, but I don't want to search for plugins.

i tried opera 7.21 but it does not seem to show techspot how it is supposed to. the tables and background images on the front page looks all messed up. i don't know if it is the browser or if it's just my computer.

i reverted back to 7.20 and now its back the way it supposed to.

ugghh. nevermind about my previous post. i reinstalled 7.21 again and now it's fine. my computer must have hiccuped three times in a row. it was really bugging me.
