  1. I reformated my computer and all the blah a while ago, but now my Sims2 game won't find the DirectX eventhough I have it installed. I get the message:

Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer.

The thing is I installed the driver disk on my system afterwards. I thing the card is a 128MB NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440.

My guess is that when you reinstalled windows, you didn't reinstall all your system drivers, or perhaps you installed old versions.

Specifically, be sure you install the following:

Your graphics card driver: get them from http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Your motherboard's chipset drivers: you can get them from your motherboard's maker's website. If you want help finding the right drivers, post the full specs of your system.

Good luck, and welcome to Techspot by the way!

Unfortunately, we can not find your motherboard with that information.

Is your system by chance a "brand name" like a dell or something? If so, give us your model number.

If not, download and run this probing software: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/27-cpu-z.html

and tell us what it says under "mainboard".
