    Here are some good cards:

    X800GTO

    6600GT

Unfortunately, there are better and cheaper cards in the PCI-E format.
    Anyway, these are good cards.

The X800GTO is the best choice in that case but regarding the price, it is still more expensive than its NVIDIA counterpart, the 6800(at least at TigerDirect it is) and around 10-20 dollars over ur budget. Add shipping and it becomes a high amount. Which brings us to the next choice in ATI, the X1600PRO.

However, if u want to, u can get a Geforce 6800XT for exactly $120. U will go a bit over ur budget with the shipping costs but will have a card almost equal to the performance of the X800GTO.

  3. Ok I looked over the X800GTo and the revies got my a litlte worried, a few of the revies that were 5 out of 5 said cons were the card got very hot. that is not what i like to hear. so can you like relive me ehre lol?

Yeah. wolfram had that problem recently I believe and he had to buy a new cooler. Ask him which one he got coz I don't know the exact name of the cooler.
  5. I hope he see's this post again lol

    I'm still around here :)

And yes, I had a little problem with heat. The card showed artifacts one day ONLY. But that day was very hot. We reached here in Cd. Juarez 105° F.

Then, the same day in the night, I ran ATITOOL. I did the artifact scanning test and got THIS.

But after that, I removed the COOLER and applied some AS5 to the GPU. Then the nect day, I played wolfenstein online with 64 people at the same time. I ran it about 2-3 hours, and it was running DAMN GOOD. I never had the problem again.

I said HERE that the VGA's ram was very hot. But I don't have a single idea about its temp, because the card has no temp sensor. Maybe the temp was safe, and it appeared to be very hot to the touch. I think that something like 50° C can appear to be extremely hot to the touch.

Anyway, the card appears to be working properly, and VERY VERY fast.
But I'm still using the onboard 6100 (which I have to admit, it's very good), because these days have been very hot.

THIS is the cooler I will get soon for the card. It's a very good one, and should fit most X800GTO cards.

  7. hmm seems it mgiht nnot fit the card though Wolfram, and in Massachusetts would those temps of about mid 90's during summer with AC on and sometimes a few 100 days be a concern for me? also if you do have an alt card suggestion for around the price of $120-135 total thats an Ati card with 256 ram would be awesome. thanks in advance

Why do you say that? It should fit a Sapphire card, unless that sapphire is a very special one.
  9. OK I got a new question for you wolfram, I looked over the total price for the card and fan and thats over $150 atm i cannot afford to do that, and not sure if my current card can alst till next month, Is there a card you can reccomend to me that is a very high quality brand that has a fast and strong stock fan on the video board? If not i might be able to get this X800GTo but, I need to know if I will enounter any issue with is since my Mobo is a Soyo- Kt333 as stated and that my apartment gets dusty and being on the top floor it gets more heat in the winter and sumer months because of teh first floor. I do use an Ac in my room during the summer, but Winter if needed i'd use a simple fan that can be directed at me and atm my case cover is off and that fan is on high directed toward the video Card. Basically, I'm worried about over-heating the new card and not having space for the artic fan, I hvae 1 pci card slot atm, but i have a ethernet pci baord i might not need but its the length also that mgiht be an issues cause i have 2 hard drives and if its too long it won't fot. So I relaly need some ideas and stuff. its driving me nuts.

Also I plan to be getting a card either tommorow or tuesday so the quicker the help i get the better. but thanks in advance if you can't reply sooner.

It will be okay I guess if there aren't the PCI slot in front of the card isn't filled. But if u want one with lower heat dissipation I would recommend NVIDIA, since their cards are traditionally lower heat emitters than ATI.
  11. can you reccomend a good card . tohuhg ati is the way i'd like to go i'm just worried bout the aqrtic fan not fitting on the card like some have, i plan on calling Ati as well as seeing if i can get a hold of sapphire about this on monday. well hope you or wolfram can help me out.
  12. hey Wolfram

Hey Wolfram I relaly am leaning hewavily towards the X800 Gto and a Artic cooler like you suggested, but I need to know if it will fit in my pc. here are some pics i jsut took of the interior ok please let me know if you can tell or not.

Judging from those pics, I think it may BARELY fit, because the Arctic Cooler is REALLY large, and very effective.
What are those PCI cards close to the AGP slot? Are they REALLY necessary?

If not, I'd remove the PCI card closest to the AGP. Then the Arctic should fit. If not, I still think it should fit.

Another thing I'd recommend is that you should do some cable management (especially the PSU cables). That way, your entire PC will be cooler, and the X800 should have no heat related problems.

Let us know what happens please. I'm really interested on that.

    Good luck! :)
  17. Well here is the verdict atm:p

Well I have some good news and bad new slol , first off the card does come up but when it says "found new hardware" 30 seconds after that it reboots my pc, and it does that cycle. now I have no idea what the hell is causing it. no idea if its a hardware issue, a software isuses, or both lol. It could be my Soyo Dragon Plus Kt333 doesn;t supposrt the X800GTO 256ram. it could be something in the bios. My bios could need to be updated, but that is hard to do since I ahve no floppy drive atm and no money to get one lol. Sooo if someone knows what the heck is the isuse spelase elt me know its driving me insane. Atm I have my old 9800 pro in so i can at least browse the web lol. And I plan on seeing if I can get this sucker fixed\replaced since its still under warranty:p

Well please help me if you can lol

Looks like a PSU issue to me. Let's see what wolfram makes of it.
  19. Well my power supply is a 430W Antec True, and the ATi tech said that shoudl be enough so no ideas lol. well i'll chewck tommorw lol

I'd reformat the computer, and start from scratch again. I had to do that when I installed the X800GTO.
