    Welcome to Techpot. I'll help with the malware. there is another section of the DDS log named Attach.txt. Please find it and leave in the next reply.

    Please download ComboFix from Here and save to your Desktop.

    • [1]. Do NOT rename Combofix unless instructed.
      [2].Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
      [3].Close any open browsers.
      [4]. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts to run.
    • NOTE: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If it does not, restart your computer to restore your connection.
      [5]. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
      [6]. If Combofix asks you to update the program, always allow.
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
      [7]. A report will be generated after the scan. Please paste the C:\ComboFix.txt in next reply.
    Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.
    Note: Make sure you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix..
    ===============================================
    Follow with the Eset NOD32 Online AntiVirus scan HERE
    1. Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
    2. Click Start
    3. When asked, allow the Active X control to install
    4. Disable your current Antivirus software. You can usually do this with its Notification Tray icon near the clock.
    5. Click Start
    6. Make sure that the option "Remove found threats" is Unchecked, and the option "Scan unwanted applications" is checked
    7. Click Scan
    8. Wait for the scan to finish
    9. Re-enable your Antivirus software.
    10. A logfile is created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please include this on your post.

    I see 2 possible rootkits in the GMER log. Combofix may handle them- if not, I will.

    IMPORTANT:
    Please do not use any other cleaning programs or scans while I'm helping you, unless I direct you to. Do not use a Registry cleaner or make any changes in the Registry.

    I ran combofix and the ESET scan, they both found items. I have attached the logs.

    Please run the Eset scan again and leave the entire log> this only shows the registration:
    I'd also like you to run the following: so far I've found 3 antivirus programs running, possible multiple firewalls: Sunbelt, McAfee and Avast. It looks like you may have tried to remove Avast, but drivers remained. There is no antivirus program showing as 'Diabled' as there should be in the Combofix header:

    Security Check
    Download Security Check and save it to your Desktop.
    • Double-click SecurityCheck.exe to run.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
    • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post this log in your next reply.
    ===========================================
    Please run this Custom CFScript

    • [1]. Close any open browsers.
      [2]. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
      [3]. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the code below into it:
    Code:
    File::
    Folder::
    c:\programdata\PopCap

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring]
    "DisableMonitoring"=-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecAntiVirus]
    "DisableMonitoring"=-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecFirewall]
    "DisableMonitoring"=-

    RegLock::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E96D-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\AllUserSettings]

    Driver::
    aswSP
    aswFsBlk

    FCopy::
    C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\atapi.sys | C:\Windows\System32\drivers\atapi.sys

    Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe
    [IMG]

    Referring to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

    When finished, it will produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt . Please paste in your next reply. You can use 2 posts if needed.

    I reran the scan but the log still said the same thing. It did find 3 items but I did not note what they were since I thought they would be in the log. I'll try to run it again.
    As for the antivirus, I dont know what sunbelt is and cant find any reference to it in my system, Mcafee I dont use and thought I had uninstalled it from my system. I do use Avast.

    I ran the security check and the script you provided and have attached the results.
    Again, Thank you.

    There's a problem with the Combofix logs- I spent 30 min. earlier trying to figure it out:

    1. This is the first scan:
    ComboFix 10-08-18.02 - jc 01/09/2007 8:31.1.2 - x86
    Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium 6.0.6002.2.1252.1.1033.18.3006.2221 [GMT -5:00]
    Running from: c:\users\jc\Desktop\Clean system\ComboFix.exe

    Completion time: 2007-01-09 09:02:10 - machine was rebooted
    ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt 2007-01-09 14:02

    2. The is second scan:
    ComboFix 10-08-21.04 - jc 01/11/2007 21:00:14.2.2 - x86
    Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium 6.0.6002.2.1252.1.1033.18.3006.1484 [GMT -5:00]

    ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt 2007-01-12 02:12
    ComboFix2.txt 2007-01-09 14:02

    3. Malwarebytes scan shows: mbam-log-2010-08-10 (21-00-18).txt

    Although the second Combofix scan shows it was run from the script, there are no removals showing in the log. The entries I have for script are still there. Did you follow the directions and run the script from within Combofix following this: [IMG]

    And what's with the old dates? Check you Time and Date on the computer. If they are not correct, fix them. Reboot the computer and run the CFScript again.

    I ran the script as your graphic instructed. I figured the date issue was another effect of the virus. i'll try again and submit the results.

    Yes, that makes a big difference. Make sure any programs you have set for updates, did update. There are done on a time and date basis and when that's wrong, you won't get the update.

    Please run this: Security Check

    Download Security Check and save it to your Desktop.
    • Double-click SecurityCheck.exe to run.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
    • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please paste this log in your next reply.
    ==============================
    When that has finished, download the HijackThis Installer HERE and save to the desktop:
    1. Double-click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
    2. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
    3. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
    4. Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    5. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
    6. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    7. Come back here to this thread and paste (Ctrl+V) the log in your next reply.

    NOTE: Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
