If you are able to spend some money
    i recommend

    Antivirus

    ESET nod32 http://www.eset.com/

    Kaspersky http://www.kaspersky.com/

    Avira premium www.avira.com

This is only if you have some money

firewall, most of these come with firewalls if you decide not to install a firewall

    Firewall

    I recommend

    Zonealarm free http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...e_firewall.jsp

    comodo free http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

    Spyware/adware

    I recommend
    Spybot search & destroy
    Superantispyware
    spywareblaster
    malwarebytes

Tells me my setup is OK. Using AviraAntiVir,Comodo firewall, SuperAntiSpyware,SpywareBlaster,MalwareBytes,WinPatrol, and SpywareGuard. Only problems I have are an occasional cookie( but WinPatrols Scotty loves those).

By the way spybot is not for scaning but for its Awesome immunization feature

you should also try spyware doctor as suggested by bobeye

cookies can be bad or good

    Other then that its alright

No,I haven't seen any updates to SpywareGuard in a long time, but I like it and it doesn't use much space or resources.
