Vista install only gets as far as "expanding files"

While installing Vista it gets through initial setup, copies and expands files (first two steps of actual install process) and when it does its first reboot it does not resume its install process... Rather, it starts the install process all over again.
Please note that I have put the disk files on a bootable flashdrive and it did the same thing as the install disk :(

Remove the disc from the drive when it does the first reboot. Perhaps it's just starting all over again from the CD...

You are a 16 year old female that is a 'Microsoft Certified Professional' and a 'Microsoft Small Business Specialist'?

Why would you recently test Vista, and then decide to put it on your home system when Windows 7 would be a much better choice?

For fixing your install error, I'd attempt to install with the absolute minimum amount of hardware connected as possible. If it still fails, then I'd ask what version of Vista. If the answer is anything other than Vista Service Pack 2, then I'd suggest getting service pack 2 and slipstreaming it into your current version, then attempting the install.
