Vista won't renew IP address

  1. Here is what happens: You can be working along just fine in Vista and if you need to unplug the ethernet cable for whatever reason, OR if you disable/re-enable the adapter, it will not connect you to your network. It will say "Identifying" for the longest time, then it eventually will acquire an ip address but won't let you connect to the Internet. It will say "Connected to: Unidentified Network."

This is happening with Vista Ultimate and Vista Business (SP1 and all updates have been installed.) All Vista computers in our company (40 machines.) All Dell Laptops. Different models.

Anybody seen this problem or have any suggestions?

Fortunately for me, I'm not in our network group. Hopefully it will fix the problem because network group is looking for us PC guys to fix it.
