VLC media player, unable to install projectM

Is there anyone who can help me to get projectM to work on VLC medial player? I can find no visualizations to download other than that one for vlc. The instructions are very vague from whatever website I try to download it from. I cannot get it to work. Is there anyone who can give any explicit instructions as to how to get it to work?

Mpv has been a better multimedia player than VLC for some time now. mpv is significantly lighter and therefore more efficient in terms of CPU usage. mpv also has the best image quality of all multimedia players. It's also very powerful. You can get all the functions by typing mpv --help in a terminal if you are using a Linux or BSD system.
