Want to unlock everything in For Honor? You'll need to play the game for 2.5 years or...

Obviously, additional revenue streams are always welcome by game developers... It counteracts piracy as well, as long as the transactions are server-side....What would be interesting is to get a look at Ubisoft's books and see how much of the revenue from For Honor is coming from the original sales and how much from microtransactions.

"Free" games, like Mobile Strike, Game of War, etc. rake in insane amounts of money per player, and are devious in that once you pay a large amount of money "to be the best", you need to continue paying out in order to "stay the best" as they release new content that is ESSENTIAL to remain competitive...

If For Honor is doing something similar, then they really should make their game free - so at least no one is too angry over the microtransaction portion...

All of that is irrelevant. That's the problem with your "position." The article is not about For Honor having microtransactions. The guy who ran the numbers was not trying to determine if the game should have microtransactions. The article and the original story it is reporting on is about whether or not Ubisoft is being ethical with the way it has structured those microstransactions..

My position stands on any game that offers the ability to have the full experience of the game without paying. If I don't like it, I am not forced to play the game. I know you, as well as many others, dislike the "pay-to-get-quickly" concept. However, like I am repeating for the umpteenth time, you are not forced to play, you are not forced to buy, and they don't owe you anything. Don't like it? Don't play.

Note: if it was simply pay-to-advance then I agree fully ONLY if it wasn't shown before purchase. As it stands, I 100% disagree with you on this.

Everyone who says don't buy the game is making a flawed argument. Just about EVERY multiplayer has this model or something similar. So basically I shouldn't play any online video game with unlockables. I wish people were more patient, especially the adults who have the most available income but they have to have it RIGHT NOW. You know a GOTY edition or similar is coming at the end of the year. People need to not buy the DLC, not the game. It's a game I want to play, stop telling me I just shouldn't want it. That's not an acceptable solution. I loathe DLC. The only thing I loathe more is on-disc DLC. Does anyone know if there is an action-replay/game genie (yes I'm old) type solution that could unlock on-disc content?
