Want to use wired headphones and charge your iPhone 7 simultaneously? You'll need an extra dongle

That's only because most of what you say IS irrelevant...

Here's a cool link for you though...looks like Samsung might be dropping the 3.5mm port as well...

If true, I wonder what Apple will add to it's advertising campaign...
all of the articles are talking about a piece written by digitalmusicnews. it's just rumors and speculations. the fact that android manufacturers are looking looking for a response to a possible success to what apple did is not news. from "exploration" to actually doing it... there is still a long way to go.
at the moment, the public response has been too ugly to allow android to do something this stupid.

Samsung will be monitoring the sales and longer term impact of 3.5mm jack absence on the iPhone.

Will probably take another 2 generations of phones even if Samsung decides to remove it. Many Apple users that decided to keep their devices either want a new form factor (iPhone 8) or hate the removal of 3.5mm jack, so until iPhone 8 comes it's too early to tell.

The new ipods, ipads and probably Macbooks will all release without the 3.5mm port... within a few years, it'll be as rare as a built-in optical drive... you still see them, but when you do, you're confused as to why...
