These are the three antivirus products currently installed on your computer,

avast! Antivirus
McAfee SecurityCenter
Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007

I beieve that trend micro is partially unistalled so you can get rid of it but you need to decide which of the other two to keep, I would suggest Avast.

Two antivirus products does not equal twice the protection.

I unistalled the Trend Micro PC-cillin long ago, but it hasn't gone completely away and it does not show up in the add/remove programs list. If you say avast is better than McAfee, I'll go with that.

Does this mean that my computer is fixed. It seems to be acting normally now. If so, thank you very much for your help. I never would have figured it out on my own and the computer would have been in serious trouble.

Thanks,
Chris

I would like you to do an online scan so that we can what else may be in your system,
Run Kaspersky online scanner
With the exception of Internet Explorer, which must be used for this scan, keep ALL programs closed
Note: It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans to speed up scan time and to make sure there are no conflicts.
Do not go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once the scan is finished remember to re-enable resident antivirus protection along with whatever antispyware application you use.

Do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner in Internet Explorer. You will be prompted to install and run an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75%. Once the licence accepted, reset to 100%.
  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
o Extended (If available, otherwise use standard)
    o Scan Options:
    o Scan Archives
    o Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Under select a target to scan, select My Computer
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Please do not use your computer while the scan is running. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Click the Save Report As... button (see red arrow below)

    Kas-SaveReport-1.gif

  • In the Save as... prompt, select Desktop
  • In the File name box, name the file
  • In the Save as type prompt, select Text file (see below)

    Kas-Savetxt.gif

  • Include the report in your next post.

Start a new thread and

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

man thank you very much for helping me...
ill just attached the log file. i cant paste it here theres some error occuring...

I did not see anything bad in your log what is happening, One thing to do first is update java if you do not have the newest one it is easy to get infect.

Update your Java Runtime Environment

First try going to Start -> Control Panel -> double click Java
Select the Update Tab at the top of the Java console
Click the Check for Updates button at the bottom
If it finds the newer version (Java 6 Update 7) Follow the on screen instructions (uncheck the yahoo toolbar option)
After it installs the newest version Go back to Control Panel -> Add/remove programs (programs and features in vista)
Uninstall any older versions of Java

If for some reason you couldn't update through the above instructions.
Update your Java Runtime Environment
Click the following link
Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 7
The 5th option down is the one you want (click Download)
Check the box to agree to terms of service
Check the box for your operating system and click 'Download selected'at the bottom
After the install Go to Start-> Control Panel-> add/remove programs (Programs and features), and uninstall any old versions
Navigate to C:\programfiles\Java -> delete any subfolders except the jre1.6.0_07 folder

i already removed the background which says warning spyware detected, but i can still see "AntivirXP08" on the add/removed programs list. i think its still infected. how can i removed this?

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please attach main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
