WD My Book EHD Failure?

Hello, I am having a problem with the WD My Book EHD too...I have Vista 32 bit OS, and the drive is getting power, but doesn't show up on My Computer...but under device manager it shows as WD in the drives category. Have suggestions on how to recover the data. Several recovery softwares I have tried won't touch it because it doesn't pick up the drive in My computer. I am using the AC adapter and a short USB cable to connect it. We tried to also place the drive into a docking station because we thought it was not getting proper power, but it still behaves the same...
Can you help me?
