I have a friend who decided instead of just plugging in his webcam (Creative WebCam NX) and let XP find the suitable drivers he installed the drivers off the CD. Now his PC is stuck on a never ending loop of some firmware flashing utility program.

Does anyone know how I can get the program to stop trying to flash and just load Windows? Must be in the master boot record or something right? I hope he doesn't need a complete reinstall. He has college papers on the thing. Thank you.

Can your friend boot into safe mode?

If so uninstall the software from add remove programmes.
